Padma Kuppa Linked to Violent Hindu nationalist Groups in India
Read on to learn how Michigan State Representative Kuppa has associated with and offered apologetics for India’s extremist Hindu nationalist movement.
“Democracy dies in darkness,” said State Representative Padma Kuppa in March 2020. “The minute you stop paying attention and stop being aware of what’s going on, you let other people take over things that impact your daily life.”
Kuppa, who was elected to the Michigan State House of Representatives in 2018, is now running for the Michigan State Senate. As she does, few voters in the suburban region of Detroit that she represents are aware that some of her largest campaign donations for her current position have come from out-of-state donors who are executives in affiliates of India’s Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Even less of the voters in her district have the slightest awareness of the extent to which RSS affiliates in America directly — and negatively — impact the daily lives of citizens in India, particularly religious minorities.
